Greetings! I am Inés Pedraza, an illustrator and graphic designer living and working in Barcelona. Online I present my art under the pseudonym @corazoncico.
I love botany and the spiritual and often incorporate both into my work. In my art I draw inspiration from the simplicity of everyday life, the security of home and the melancholy of time with its memories. I follow a feminine and sensitive approach in my work.
Usually people describe my art as a dreamlike paradise they would love to run away to. For me, creating and conveying peace is an important part of my personal work.
I graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in 2020, specialising in drawing and animation. During my studies I developed my own artistic language and experimented with numerous media and art forms.
My final project, «The Care of the Houseplant,» reflects these principles. With this artwork I wanted to summarise everything I have learned and tried during my career. This project became a way for me to let go of all my worries and fears to start a new chapter in my life.
«The Care of the Houseplant» was recognised as one of the best final projects of the year and is now part of the artistic heritage of the University of Barcelona (Patrim ’20). In 2021, the final artwork was exhibited at the Can Framis Museum in Barcelona under the exhibition title «Estètiques de la proximitat» («Aesthetics of proximity«).
Since then I have been working in my family business, a small neighbourhood flower shop, where I have developed a much deeper love for botany. Currently, I have a good understanding of how to care for a variety of flowers and plants. Also, I found a new way to express myself artistically in floral design. All in all, it has been a very enriching experience that has taught me a lot about floral craft and my own roots.
In addition to my work, I continued my education in subjects that interested me but with which I was not so familiar: in 2023 I graduated from the Aula Creactiva (Madrid) with a degree in Graphic Design, Web Design and UX-UI Design. The study of these subjects has enriched my artistic work, and on the other hand, my work as a designer is imbued with the power of my artistic consciousness.
